Panguaneta Achieves CARBON NEUTRALITY*

We are proud to announce that in 2025, Panguaneta has officially reached a significant milestone: CARBON NEUTRALITY!

This achievement is the result of a decade-long journey marked by significant investments in cutting-edge technology to ensure continuous monitoring and a progressive reduction of CO₂e emissions into the atmosphere. One of our most significant technological investments has been the installation of a state-of-the-art biomass power plant, fuelled by virgin and treated biomass, for thermal energy production. This has led to a reduction in direct fossil fuel emissions of approximately 95%. The emissions generated by burning wood residues in our thermal plant are entirely offset by our growing plantations: our valuable poplar groves absorb large amounts of CO₂e, significantly reducing the impact of our activities on global warming. Between 2014 and 2024, we successfully cut our facility’s total CO₂e emissions by around 50%.

Each step we have taken, has been driven by the intention to reach an ambitious goal: carbon neutrality. To reach it, Panguaneta has engaged in carbon sequestration and storage initiatives such as WOWnature, a reforestation and forest conservation project developed by Etifor in collaboration with the University of Padua. By protecting specific nature reserves along the Po and Oglio rivers, we have not only offset the emissions generated by our production activities but also contributed to preserving the quality of water and biodiversity in these regions.

Panguaneta has also supported the international carbon offsetting initiative Renewable energy from hydropower for Sumatra, which promotes the integration of renewable electricity into the power grid and improves energy supply security.

We are thrilled to celebrate this important milestone, which inspires us not only to maintain our achievements in the years ahead but also to continue our journey towards new goals and further improvements.
