Baeck 82 - Belgium

An innovative project of sustainable architecture in Jette

Baeck 82 was conceived as a visionary and innovative project in sustainable architecture. Located on the outskirts of Brussels, in the town of Jette, this idea has become a reality, thanks to the collaboration of numerous partners who oversaw every stage of the design, material selection, and construction process.

Fabrizio Trobiani, architect and director of Arqeh Architecture was both the driving force and the project’s client, commissioning the construction of a four-storey building designed with a focus on circularity and eco-design. The goal was to minimize the environmental impact while anticipating future needs through adaptable and reversible solutions.

The choice of materials played a crucial role in the project. To ensure sustainability and innovation, Arqeh Architecture relied on Natura Mater, a company specializing in supporting construction projects in the selection, the procurement, and the installation of cutting-edge, eco-friendly materials.

A key design element was the integration of aesthetically refined, exposed partition walls that could be easily dismantled in the future, if needed. To meet this specific requirement, Natura Mater turned to Bouttens NV, a long-standing partner and exclusive distributor of Panguaneta product lines in Belgium.

For this project, Bouttens NV proposed Panguaneta’s Tutto Pioppo PureGlue™ plywood. Featuring an exclusive formaldehyde-free bonding technology, PureGlue™ is CARB-NAF (No-Added-Formaldehyde) certified, significantly improving indoor air quality. Additionally, its Blauer Engel certification ensures an environment free from harmful substances. These characteristics made a strong impression on the customer, who found in Panguaneta plywood the ideal solution.

Margaux Cambier, Co-founder of Natura Mater, commented: "In this project, we supported both the architect and the client. The goal was to create an exemplary model, result of a thoughtful approach to material selection and application. Sustainability, health, and circularity were at the core of the project".

Philippe Smeets, Purchase Manager of Bouttens NV added: “Since1934 we have been leader in the distribution of panels in Belgium, a market extremely dynamic, vibrant, and open to innovation. Together with Panguaneta, we believe that only by building strong networks we can grant customers high-quality service and real added value. Panguaneta was among the first companies to recognize the importance of long-term collaborations. Their commitment to sustainability, both in the management and throughout the entire production process, is combined with a diverse product range, that meets the evolving needs of today’s market. Their strong drive for innovation enables us to stay closely aligned with the market and tackle the challenges of modern times”.

A complex project that redefines the boundaries of sustainable construction, creating a warm and liveable residential space.
