The new "shades" of design: Panguaneta and Blok Plaatmateriaal draw new horizons at Milano Design Week 2024

During Milan Design Week 2024, Panguaneta poplar plywood was showcased through "SFUMATURE", an installation featured at Masterly - The Dutch in Milano. Held during the Salone del Mobile, this exhibition brought the best of Dutch design and craftsmanship to the historic halls of Palazzo dei Giureconsulti, located in the heart of Milan.

The palace offers a unique view of Milan's most iconic monument, a masterpiece of Gothic art: the Duomo.
A unique place, rich in history, and simultaneously at the heart of the city's dynamic life: the magnificent colonnade of the historic Palazzo dei Giureconsulti has been enhanced by the installation designed by Carina Riezebos, Creative Chief Officer of our Dutch partner, Blok Plaatmateriaal. The name of the installation, "SFUMATURE" (meaning “shades” in English) evokes the delicate nuances of wood, which blend harmoniously with the surroundings, accentuating their forms and light hues. The installation is inspired by the Gothic interiors of the Cathedral of Milan, a symbol of the city. The structure, consisting of interlocking arches, was made possible thanks to the use of Panguaneta poplar plywood. With its delicate light tones, it created an elegant, lightweight, yet sturdy structure, composing a captivating symphony of hues and textures that enveloped visitors in a rich visual and tactile experience.

The Design Week also served as the occasion to unveil the new additions to the STELLINA collection: a sofa and an armchair. Here, Panguaneta plywood was showcased coated with HPL in subtle tones, seamlessly integrating with the environment and enriching it with its graceful lines.

Jan Blok, CEO of Blok Plaatmateriaal, said: “Our aim is to inspire and celebrate the rich heritage of craftsmanship in our industry while meeting the highest professional standards”.

Giorgio Morini, Commercial and Marketing Director of Panguaneta, stated: "In the end we just write the music, but we need the best orchestras to reach the most unparalleled sound. Special thanks to Jan Blok, Carina Riezebos, and the whole team of Blok Plaatmateriaal".
