Panguaneta renews its certification for the ecosystem services of Rosa Anna e Rosa Luigia farm

Panguaneta confirms the path undertaken in 2019 by renewing the certification for ecosystem services across 518 hectares of poplar groves located in the provinces of Mantua and Parma, according to the international standards of the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®).

Trees and plantations play a vital role in the fight against climate change. Although artificial forest formations, such as the poplar groves in Italy, represent a mere 7% of the world's forests, they are the primary source of raw materials for wood and paper industries. This underscores their importance in preserving natural forests. Additionally, the sustainable management of these plantations significantly contributes to CO2 storage and to the conservation of biodiversity.

Following the FSC® standards, Panguaneta has measured the impact of its responsible management of poplar groves within its Rosa Anna e Rosa Luigia farm, analysing from a scientific perspective four key issues: biodiversity conservation, CO2 storage, soil erosion reduction, and landscape enhancement.

By working with a local supply chain, by certifying products and processes, by minimizing pesticide use, by producing renewable energy, and by securing agreements to protect 53 hectares of forested floodplain areas, Panguaneta confirms its leading role within the wood industry as regards responsible forest and plantation management.
